FAQs
We are here to help you with any questions you may have
If you have the right to appeal against HMRC decision, you can do so. You may be able to file an appeal if HMRC, for example:
- Are investigating your tax issues and demanding excessive quantities of information or taking too long to complete their investigations;
- Have changed your Self-Assessment in response to an inquiry because they believe you made a mistake;
- Have made a tax assessment against you or have denied a petition for relief;
- have refused to provide you with a certificate as a subcontractor;
- have issued a coding notice that you believe is incorrect;
- Are unfairly demanding a penalty or fee.
You can appeal to HMRC in writing if you disagree with HMRC and have a right of appeal. Normally, you have 30 days from the day HMRC notifies you of their decision to file an appeal. Your appeal will be considered by HMRC. They’ll either agree with you and confirm their decision, or they’ll stick to their initial decision. They will write to confirm their stance. If you still don’t agree with HMRC after the revised decision, you have 30 days to appeal.
